Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 26 / Trend I. Izzet /

The Azerbaijani Press Council will conduct monitoring during an unauthorized rally, planned to be held at Fountain Square in Baku today, the Council told Trend on Saturday.

The Azerbaijani Press Council will monitor the situation and examine the conditions created for the media to perform professional duties.

Monitoring aims at supporting journalists to freely exercise their duties. The group, created by the Azerbaijani Press Council together with the Interior Ministry, will hold the monitoring. Executive Secretary of the Council Rahim Huseynzade will head the group.

The process will be controlled by members of the Permanent Commission of the Azerbaijani Press Council to resolve the problems between state agencies and the press.

Media representatives must have special vests marked "PRESS" during the monitoring. Special attention will be paid to this point.

The Press Council considers this as an important condition for the media representatives to effectively conduct their duties and encourages them to wear these vests.

The Press Council appeals to all the journalists who will perform their professional duties during the rally to appeal to a monitoring group of the Press Council in case of an unwanted situation.
