Over 2,000 foreign law violators detected in Azerbaijan

In February 2013, the State Migration Service (SMS) identified 2,448 foreigners in violation of immigration legislation, the press-service of the SMS said on Thursday.

199 people were fined and their residences were legalized, 2,147 foreign nationals were ordered to leave Azerbaijan within 48 hours and 26 foreigners were expelled from the country on administrative orders. The documents of temporary and permanent residence, lost by nine foreigners, were replaced with new ones.

544 people, mostly citizens of Georgia, who violated administrative law, were released from liability on the basis of Article 21 of the Administrative Code.

In February, the SMS received 5,396 applications for stay extensions in the country due to statelessness, the granting of permits for temporary and permanent residence, refugee status and restoration of citizenship and issuance of individual permits for work or renewal of employment in the country.

Each application was considered under the current legislation and appropriate decisions were made on them.

In addition, the officers conducted inspections on a number of business facilities, resulting in the detection of violations by 32 enterprises of rules for obtaining individual permits for work on the territory of Azerbaijan.
