Azerbaijan celebrates “International Olympic Run Day” (PHOTOS)

On June 23, Azerbaijan Republic National Olympic Committee, together with the worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, Coca-Cola, held a grand celebration in the honor of foundation of the modern Olympic movement, and International Olympic Committee.

On June 23, Azerbaijan Republic National Olympic Committee, together with the worldwide partner of the Olympic Games, Coca-Cola, held a grand celebration in the honor of foundation of the modern Olympic movement, and International Olympic Committee. The main aim of the event was to call on masses, especially youth and children, to lead a healthy lifestyle by actively joining the Olympic movement. Traditional Olympic Run took place during the event, which gathered more than 1500 people.

Celebration was also attended by the staff of the National Olympic Committee, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Coca-Cola, Administration of the Baku City Youth and Sports Department, Winners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, sports schools, non-governmental organizations, and general public.

"Today, many young people are here to join the Olympic Run Day, and we are happy to see such great interest in sports among them. We've been cooperating with the Coca-Cola in Azerbaijan since 1997, and its support of the Olympic movement in Azerbaijan cannot be overemphasized. We would also like to thank government and non-government organizations for their continued support of the movement" said the Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee, Chingiz Huseynzade

The honored guest, Azerbaijan Olympic Champion, National Olympic Ambassador, Farid Mansurov made a speech at the event, where he also mentioned vitality of sports to everyone's health and well-being.

In 2008, Coca-Cola set a goal to have at least one physical activity program in each of the more than 200 countries where it operates by 2015. Olympic Run Day, is one of the events, of the 5-year partnership, between Coca-Cola and National Olympic Committee in Azerbaijan, from the "Active Family - Healthy Community" campaign to promote healthy lifestyle through engagement in sports.
