Azerbaijan's population exceeds 9.5 million people

As of May 1, 2014, Azerbaijan's population hit 9,511,1 people increasing by 34,000 people or 0.4 percent since early 2014, according to the State Statistics Committee's report.
The population density was 110 people per square kilometer. Currently, some 1,011 women fall to 1,000 men in Azerbaijan.
Some 53.2 percent of the population lives in towns, while 46.8 percent - in the regions, according to the report.
Some 53,600 children were born in Azerbaijan in January-February 2014, of whom 53.6 percent - boys, 46.4 percent - girls. The natality per 1,000 people amounted to 17.4 people in Azerbaijan.
Some 19,900 people have died in Azerbaijan since early 2014. The mortality remained unchanged and hit 6.5 per thousand people compared to the corresponding period of 2013.
Some 24,800 marriages and 3,900 divorces were registered during this period.
