The joint tactical drills of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey are continuing, according to a message from Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry.
The ministry said May 13 that at the next stage of the exercises, the units of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey carried out various combat tasks.
The drills involve about 1,000 people, nearly 80 armored vehicles, over 60 artillery pieces and mortars, 12 military and transport helicopters of the air forces, as well as the air defense units and air defense forces equipped with modern weapons.
The main objectives of the drills are the coordination of actions between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the exchange of experience, and the development of mutual understanding between the two countries' military units.
The drills are also aimed at improving the staffs' joint planning skills, the combat readiness of the units and their ability to conduct operations.
The exercises will last until May 16.
