Six people, including football player detained under Azerbaijani journalist’s death probe

Six people, including football player Javid Huseynov, have been detained under the probe into the beating and death of journalist Rasim Aliyev, a joint statement of the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan said August 11.
According to the statement, E. Ismayilov, S. Mustafayev, D. Mammadov, K. Madatov and A. Aliyev are charged under article 126.3 (deliberate causing of harm resulting in death of the affected person) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen.
Huseynov's cousin, accused of the preparation of the crime, was arrested for covering up a heinous crime.
He is charged under article 307.1 (not informing about known, prepared or committed heinous crimes) and article 307.2 (not promised covering up of a heinous crime). A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against Huseynov.
The operational-investigative group is also investigating the version of committing the crime at the instigation of Javid Huseynov.
A report on the course of the investigation and the measures is constantly made for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the statement says.
Rasim Aliyev, working for Ann.az website, was beaten and as a result, suffered multiple injuries on August 8. Aliyev died in a clinical medical center on August 9.
Baku's prosecutor's office filed a criminal case under article 126.3 of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic (intentional infliction of harm resulting in death of the injured person). An operational-investigative group consisting of police officers was established.
