Azerbaijan's Interior Minister Ramil Usubov said that 32 people faced arrest as a measure of restraint over the incident in the township of Nardaran, located 25 km northeast of Baku.
Speaking to Azerbaijani television channel AzTV on Dec. 2, Usubov said that five were killed in operations held in the township.
"Six sub-machine guns, numerous pistols and explosive devices were found during the operations," noted Usubov. "The operations are underway."
He added that it is the 23rd case of confrontation between Nardaran residents and the police.
Minister Usubov also asked the township's residents to hand over the arms, they posses, to the field patrol services.
He also noted that there is currently peace and tranquility throughout Azerbaijan, except for Nardaran.
