The body found in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea is identified, said the Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry Jan. 30.
According to the ministry, a dead body belongs to the worker of the platform No. 10 of Azerbaijan's Guneshli oil field Sahib Shahmarov. The body will be delivered to Azerbaijan in the next few hours.
Earlier, an amphibious aircraft BE-200ÇS of the Ministry of Emergency Situations with an investigation team left for Turkmenistan to identify the body found on the Turkmen coast.
A body was found on January 29 evening in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, and the Azerbaijani side was informed about this through diplomatic channels.
The search for oil workers, who went missing in an accident on the platform No. 10 of Azerbaijan's Guneshli oil field and the platform No. 501 of the Oil Rocks field continues.
The fire broke out on the offshore platform Dec. 4, as a strong storm damaged an underwater high-pressure gas pipeline.
As many as 33 people were rescued in an ensuing large-scale operation. The bodies of 12 killed were retrieved, while 18 oil workers are still listed as missing.
