A presentation of Baku Expo 2025 project has been held today at the UN Headquarters in New York for the member countries of the organization.
Representatives of about 120 countries participated in the presentation.
The presentation was held by Baku EXPO 2025 negotiation group in cooperation with the permanent representation of Azerbaijan to the UN.
Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Yashar Aliyev greeted the guests and thanked them for participating in the presentation.
Assistant to Azerbaijan’s First Vice-President and Head of World Expo 2025 Baku Taskforce Elchin Amirbayov spoke about the advantages of Azerbaijan as a potential organizer of the exhibition. He informed in detail about the connection between the topic “Developing human capital, building a better future” proposed by Baku and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
After the presentation, the audience watched a film about the rich history and culture of Azerbaijan, its experience in organizing international events, that the country plays the role of a bridge between Asia and Europe, is known as the center of multiculturalism, the beauty of Baku and other advantages for holding the exhibition.
Amirbayov noted that Baku, becoming the organizer of the event, would create an opportunity to explore the future of society, humanity and mobilization for the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and effectively address the global threats facing the planet.
“Baku will become a new place, a new destination for world exhibitions EXPO and will inspire countries that have never accepted them. We felt a sense of pride when we saw representatives of many countries at the UN headquarters,” he added.
For the first time, Azerbaijan participated in the Expo Milano 2015 with its national pavilion. More than three million people visited Azerbaijan’s pavilion at Expo Milano 2015. Azerbaijan’s national pavilion was of great interest to the participants of Antalya EXPO 2016 World Botanical Expo held in Turkey.
At the EXPO 2017 in Astana, the country was represented by a pavilion prepared on the basis of the concept of “Land of Energy – energy from the past to future”.
Azerbaijan proposed to organize the Baku EXPO 2025 from May 10 to November 10.
The exhibition’s topic will be “Developing human capital, building a better future”.
