TASS news agency: Information consumers should become more picky

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 26

By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:

The information consumers should become more picky, the First Deputy General Director of the Russian TASS news agency Mikhail Gusman said at the working session entitled as "Disinformation Policy - Threat to Stability in the Modern World" within the VI Baku International Humanitarian Forum Oct. 26.

He noted that the development and dissemination of information technologies lead to an increase in the popularity of social networks, which, if used irresponsibly, can lead to a catastrophe.

Gusman added that it is impossible to prohibit the use of social networks, just as it is impossible to prohibit consumption of information.

He said in such conditions, the main responsibility lies with consumers of information, who should become more scrupulous.

Gusman noted that TASS is one of the most information-protected organizations in Russia.

However, Gusman stressed, even so, a large number of unidentified information attacks are regularly being made on this news agency.

The VI International Humanitarian Forum the theme of which is “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, began its work in Baku on Oct. 25. More than 580 people including 416 foreign guests from 86 countries and 24 international organizations, participate in this two-day forum.
