By Ilhama Isabalayeva – Trend:

There are many unqualified workers in the Azerbaijani labour market, Azerbaijani Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sahil Babayev said.

Babayev made the remarks in Baku on Oct. 31 at a conference being held as part of the project entitled "Supporting the Establishment of Regional Professional Competence Center in Ganja".

“This does not mean that these people do not have experience and skills,” he said.

"On the contrary, they pass on their experience from generation to generation,” the minister added. “But there is no document that officially confirms their skills. In this aspect, it is very important to create a mechanism for recognizing informal and informative abilities."

Babayev said that there are enough people in Azerbaijan who did not graduate from a vocational college or university.

“Today the majority of the labor market participants are people with secondary specialized education and vocational education,” he said.

Babayev stressed that it is necessary to renew 270 professional standards and complete work on the development of standards for 1,000 professions.
