Baku has a wonderful National Gymnastics Arena, we really enjoyed performing here, participants of the 28th World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships, Portuguese athletes Rita Ferreira and Ana Teixeira told Trend.
The gymnasts won two gold medals at the World Championships in Baku - in combined and balance exercises.
"We performed well in the finals and were satisfied with the result. We are proud that we won the gold medals of the World Championship, we will bring awards to our native country. Preparing for the competition, we spent a lot of time in the training room, so we think we deserve gold medals," they said.
Rita Ferreira and Ana Teixeira emphasized that the Championship in Baku is organized at a high level.
"Wonderful conditions for gymnasts have been created in Baku. The gymnastics arena made a great impression on us. We are happy that we have achieved success here," the Portuguese athletes noted.
The 28th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku from March 10 through March 13.
Some 170 gymnasts from 17 countries are participating in the championship, which is being held in Baku for the first time.
The women's, mixed and men's pairs, women's and men's groups are demonstrating the balance, tempo and combined exercises at the competitions.
