BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 6. Up to 60,000 deaths are recorded per year on average in Azerbaijan, Head of Department of Health Policy and Planning of Public Health and Reforms Center of Azerbaijani Ministry of Health Nabil Seyidov said at a press conference, Trend reports.
This figure amounted to 75,000 deaths at the end of 2021, Seyidov noted.
According to him, the increase in deaths last year is associated with COVID-19, exacerbating other diseases.
"Currently, more than 52 percent of deaths in Azerbaijan are due to cardiovascular diseases, 16 percent - oncological disorders, 3-4 percent - diabetes and pulmonary diseases," Seyidov said.
