BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 2. The draft state budget of Azerbaijan for next year envisages 1.8 billion manat ($1 billion) for health care sector, Trend reports.
The data of the Ministry of Finance shows that this is 66.3 million manat ($38.9 million) or 3.7 percent more than in 2023, and 453.4 million manat ($266.7 million) or 32 percent more than in 2022.
The share of health expenditures in state budget expenditures will be 5.1 percent (0.2 percentage points more than in 2023), and the share in GDP will be 1.6 percent (0.1 percentage points more than in 2023).
The specific weight of these expenditures increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to 2020 (excluding funds allocated to fight the coronavirus pandemic), and in absolute terms by 552.7 million manat ($325.1 million) or 41.9 percent.
From the funds allocated for health expenditures, 1.3 billion manat or $764.7 million (112.2 million manat, which is $65.9 million or 8.9 percent more than in 2023) or 73.5 percent are directed to the expenditures on compulsory medical insurance of the population at the expense of state funds, 2.2 million manat ($1.2 million) or 0.1 percent - to the maintenance of clinics and outpatient clinics, 231.5 million manat ($136.1 million) or 12.4 percent - to applied research in the field of health.
A total of 252.1 million manat ($148.2 million) or 13.5 percent of the total health expenditures is projected for financing other health services.
