BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 23. Global Fund projects are being successfully implemented in Azerbaijan, Health Minister Teymur Musayev said at a meeting with the Global Fund Portfolio Manager Olga Avdeeva, Trend reports.

Welcoming the guests, Musayev highlighted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the Global Fund. According to the minister, regular meetings of the Ministry of Health with the Global Fund missions contribute to strengthening cooperation.

The minister added that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has been actively involved in promoting tuberculosis control activities in our country since 2005.

"Since 2005, the Global Fund has actively contributed to tuberculosis control efforts in Azerbaijan. Currently, projects funded by the Global Fund are making a vital impact in the fight against tuberculosis," he said.

The minister also reminded attendees that in March of the previous year, the World Health Organization (WHO) certified Azerbaijan as a malaria-free country. He attributed this success to the comprehensive support from partners, with the WHO playing a leading role.

In conclusion, Teymur Musayev expressed confidence in the further successful development of cooperation between the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan and the Global Fund.

In turn, the portfolio manager of the Global Fund praised the certification of Azerbaijan as a country "free from malaria". According to her, this achievement was credited to the dedication of healthcare workers and effective prevention, early detection, and treatment strategies.

The meeting also addressed the current state of collaboration and potential avenues for future development.
