GUBA, Azerbaijan, September 25. Competitions like the Grace of Nature tournament really light a fire under the development of gymnastics in Azerbaijan, Judge of the competition Elnara Huseynova told Trend.
She noted that the competitions are held at the top of their game.
“Gymnasts from both the nation's capital and the regions are throwing their hats in the ring for the tournament. These competitions really raise the bar for our gymnasts' professionalism. Similar tournaments pop up like mushrooms after rain across the regions of the country, and gymnasts are honing their skills, moving from one competition to the next like a well-oiled machine. We see the fruits of these competitions bearing ripe and juicy results. Moreover, it stirs the pot of interest in this sport, and we’re witnessing a surge in the number of kids flocking to gymnastics,” she said.
To note, the Guba Olympic Sports Complex is rolling out the red carpet for the Grace of Nature Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament. The three-day showdown will sift the wheat from the chaff, revealing the champions in both the solo acts and the team drills.
The competition is a real mixed bag, featuring 255 athletes from 26 clubs, all ready to throw their hats in the ring..
The gymnasts perform in the age categories Junior (born in 2017-2018), Junior Girls (born in 2014-2016), Pre-Junior Girls (born in 2012-2013), and Junior Girls (born in 2009-2011).
The individual medals will be played in all-around and individual apparatus, and in group exercises the participants will perform in programs only in individual apparatus.
The tournament features athletes from different clubs around the country, which adds a special interest to the competition. The Grace of Nature tournament gives young gymnasts a great opportunity to showcase their skills and gain experience.
The Grace of Nature tournament will conclude on September 26.
