BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 30. Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has met today with a delegation led by his Georgian counterpart Giorgi Gabitashvili to discuss the interdepartmental cooperation growth, Trend reports.
Aliyev emphasized the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries, rooted in their rich historical and cultural heritage, and noted that these ties promote the development of inter-agency cooperation based on mutual respect and trust.
He highlighted that the meetings held during the 27th Annual Conference and General Assembly of the International Association of Prosecutors in Tbilisi positively impacted the development of cooperation between the prosecution authorities of both countries.
The official also mentioned that hosting the 29th Annual Conference and General Assembly in Baku would further strengthen these relations.
Besides, Aliyev underscored the historical significance of hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, stating that COP29 will make a substantial contribution to peace, the discussion of global issues, and the exploration of solutions.
Gabitashvili expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highly praised the reforms being implemented in the prosecution system and the existing ties between the prosecution authorities of both countries.
Then Aliyev invited the Prosecutor General of Georgia to a high-level plenary session, which will be held in Baku on November 15 of this year in cooperation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
The working visit of the Georgian delegation to Azerbaijan continues.
To note, meetings are being held with delegations from international organizations and foreign states participating in the 29th Annual Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors in Baku.
