BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. Fuzuli was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 17 as a result of the Azerbaijani army's counter-offensive launched on September 27, 2020.

Thanks to the heroism and determination of the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, justice was restored for the residents of Fuzuli district, who had been longing to return to their native land for many years.

During the occupation, Fuzuli, a formerly thriving town, was reduced to ruins by Armenian forces. Buildings were robbed, graves, mosques, historical sites, and even old Albanian churches were demolished by Armenians.

In the wake of the liberation of Azerbaijani territories from the Armenian occupation, transformative reconstruction initiatives commenced, encompassing every facet of the liberated regions. The Fuzuli city is undergoing a dynamic transformation, with innovative structures being developed and enhanced environments being cultivated.

As part of the initial phase of the transformative initiative “Great Return,” a remarkable 22,000 individuals will reintegrate into Fuzuli. To date, a total of 822 families, encompassing 3,132 individuals, have successfully reintegrated into Fuzuli.

To note, Fuzuli was occupied by Armenian armed forces on August 23, 1993.
