BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. The main directions of the state policy in the field of mine action are being determined, Trend reports
According to the information, the issue was reflected in the draft law “On demining”, which was discussed today at the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament.
The state policy directions for mine action are:
- elimination of the threat posed by explosive ordnance to ensure the safety of the population and the state, create of conditions for economic, social, and environmental development;
- formation of a regulatory legal framework for the safe and effective organization of demining activities;
- ensurance of the right of the population to receive information on the existence of threats to life and health in dangerous zones;
- provision of support measures established by law for victims and guarantees for sappers.
Following discussion, the amendment was put to a vote and adopted in the first reading.
