BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. A media tour was organized at the Border Control Command of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

Lieutenant General Elshan Verdiyev, head of the Border Control Command, informed media representatives about the history of the Border Troops.

He noted that in the year 1919, the parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic established 99 border checkpoints across the country. Following Azerbaijan’s second time of independence, the Border Troops resumed their activities. The SBS personnel fought heroically during the Second Karabakh War.

The Lieutenant General also discussed the preparations of the Border Control Command for the upcoming COP29 conference.

"The Border Control Command is ready for COP29. Special technological equipment for document verification is on standby, and necessary directives have been issued in this regard," he noted.

A video highlighting the activities and achievements of the SBS and the Border Control Command was presented during the tour.

Afterward, media representatives toured the administrative building of the Border Control Command, examining vehicles, special equipment, and tools used in the field, and visited the gym where personnel train during their free time.

Participants observed the operational process in the surveillance room, witnessing the registration of requests and their appropriate processing.

Journalists were briefed on the operations of the canine unit and were shown a demonstration of the "operational" procedures in action.

The tour also included observations of the activities of the SBS at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, focusing on the processes involved in checking individuals leaving and entering Azerbaijan, including handling cases of counterfeit passports and documentation issues.
