INT’L CONFERENCE ON SEISMOLOGICAL DANGER DUE

On 4 July the Geology Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan will host a three-day international seminar on "Advanced dynamic, geo-risks and stable development of territory from the Black Sea to the Caspian region,” the Earth Sciences of the Academy, Trend reports.

Initiated by Neydelberg Academy of Germany and supported by UNESCO, U.S. company ExxonMobil, the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, the Organization of Earthquakes and Big Cities the event will bring together scientists from Azerbaijan, Germany, UK, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Australia, Russia and Georgia.

The key objective of the forum is to study and appraise seismological potential of the Caucasus, public training to natural calamities.

The foreign and Azerbaijani scientists will carry out researches in the direction of seismology of Caucasus. The researches revealed the high seismic danger of the regions.

The Caucasus plays considerable role in energy supply to several countries, and it is necessary to insure security of the oil and gas pipelines and terminals.
