AZERI OBM COMPLETES HIS VISIT TO SWEDEN

Elmira Suleymanova, the Azerbaijani ombudsman, was in Lund, Sweden, from 22 to 31 August, where she participated in the seminar on National Human Rights Institutes of South Caucasus, the press-service of the Ombudsman’s Institute told Trend on Thursday.

The visit was paid at the invitation of the Raul Vallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. The representatives of Armenian and Georgia also participated in the seminar aimed at discussion of issues related to the development and implementation of national programs in human rights sphere in the South Caucasus countries.

In her remarks, Suleymanova spoke about activities of her institute, as well as the situation on the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict.

Suleymanova held some meetings with the representatives of the non-governmental organizations and the leaders of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Sweden.

The ombudsmen of the South Caucasus countries also met with the Sweden Parliament ombudsman, ombudsman on gender issues and ombudsman on national minorities in Stockholm.

Suleymanova was accompanied by 5 employees of the Ombudsman’s Institute.
