The program of the forthcoming visit of Russia and Moscow Alexi II to Azerbaijan on 14-15 September has been determined. Father Sergey, a representative of the Baku and Caspian Eparchy, told Trend that the visit, the second in its turn, is implemented at the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, the chairman of the Caucasus Moslems Clerical Board.
Alexi II will arrive in Baku with a special flight on 14 September. He will start the visit with a tribute at the Cemetery of Martyrs and ex-President Heydar Aliyev’s tomb. The clerical leader plan to meet with the Sheik-ul-Islam and leader of the religious confessions in Azerbaijan.
Alexi II also intends to congratulate Sheik-ul-Islam on 25th jubilee of elections to this post. The visit program also includes a divine service in one of the churches in Baku.
Alexi II paid his first visit to Baku in May 2001.
