The Foreign Ministry (FM) of Azerbaijan received no appeals from the Russian FM in regard to the Russian pilgrims transit through the countrys territory, the head of the FM media and information policy department Tair Tagizade said, commenting on the intention of the Russian government to find the optimal way for their pilgrims transit. The former way has been changed due to the bird flu virus in Turkey.
According to him, in case such appeal comes, FM will view it undoubtedly.
It should be reminded the Russian FM is going to coordinate the issue of border crossing by the Russian pilgrims with the countries through which their route is passing, the head of the Russian FM Sergey Lavrov stated today. He said, there are totally over 13,000 pilgrims. Among them only 4,000 reached the Saudi Arabia by air, the rest by road transport.
