The Commission on Appeals of the Press Council held a meeting, Trend reports. The commission reviewed five appeals and took many decisions. Noticeably, three of the appeals were sent by the Executive Authorities in the Regions (EAR).
While reviewing an appeal made by the Red Crescent Society against newspapers Daily Azerbaijan and Real Azerbaijan, the commission did not consider it reasonable to review the appeal taking into consideration a court decision on a number of articles published by these newspapers. Decision of the permanent commission on problem solving among the press and state structures was taken by the Press Council as a base in reviewing an appeal made by the executive authorities of Agdam district against Novoye Vremya newspaper. It particularly mentions that before Novoye Vremya no article of this character has been published in any of the newspapers about Agdam EAR so far.
In course of reviewing an appeal made by Lachin EAR versus Azadlyg and Vremya dailies, the commission came to the conclusion that the complaints were right. The Kurdamir EAR appeal made against Alternative newspaper was considered as appropriate to be investigated in the administrative bodies. Views publish by Milli Yol newspaper on behalf of the head of Agitation and Organization sector of the State Marine Rescue Service, without interviewing him, were considered by the commission as a violation of professional guidelines by the journalists.
