The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry drew up the special action plan on prevention of forest fires,Trend reports referring to a news release spread by the Ministry on 13 March.
On 9 March forest fires took place as a result of tornados in the regions Guba, Gusar, Lerik and Yardimly after warm and cloudless weather conditions. Preliminary searches showed that the reason for it was careless handling of fire. In Yardimly the fire covered 0.4 hectares, in Lerik 3 hectares. The fire was extinguished as a result of the measures taken by Forest Guardian and Restoration Service.
The Ecology Ministry calls on the population to careful handling of fire and adherence to safety regulations in this regard.
