Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are on top the women poverty list by UNIFEM across the CIS, reportedly said at May 26 at the conference Damira Sartbayeva, Regional Director, UNIFEM.
She said Azerbaijan as a country with developing economy has all chances to improve life conditions and social security of women. At the moment Azerbaijans official poverty rate is 29% with reducing overall womens poverty, she said. More accurate data will be published next year upon performing a monitoring, Sartbayeva added. Moreover, she said, the lowest indices display Moldova, Kyrgyzia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Funds representative said The Funds budget in Azerbaijan today amounts $3.5mln. Besides, Azerbaijan is an active member of many regional programs with the Fund, which required issuing the country some $50k.
