Contests of the 13th Azerbaijan Championship and the Baku Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics held in the Baku Olympic Complex on December 1-3 have been very successful.

More than 60 gymnasts from different Baku sport communities in Baku took part in the contest.

However, the most interesting fact is that the young gymnasts from Ganja City took part, for the very first time, in the Championship of the Country, the press service of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation informed Trend.

The gymnasts, who competed in four age groups, won the all-round competitions

The most interesting struggle for medals was about sportspersons born between the years 1991-1992. In the absence of Zeynab Javadli, who was unable to return to Baku from Moscow, the leading position was taken by a participant of the last Europe Championship, Leyla Shamilova, from the Baku Gymnastics School., she took first place after an almost perfect performance by collecting 93.8 points. Second place was won by the Baku Gymnastics School student Jeyla Guliyeva (92.3), the third, Zulfiya Aliyeva (89.95 points, Trade Unions).

The performance of the 1993-1994 year group was promising. The leading positions were won by Jamilya Husseynova. The representative of the Republican Complex Sports School collected 84.85 points and left Aelita Khalafova from the Gymnastics School 1 point behind. The bronze was taken by Esmira Orujova from the republican Complex Sports School (82 points).

Aisha Mustafayev from Trade Unions won 1st place amongst the 1995-1996 year group (80.4 points). The second place was taken by her fellow student, Kamila Mammadova (80 points), and Lala Yusifova (Republican Complex Sports School) took 3rd place (78.4 points).

And finally, the final medals were won by the youngest gymnasts, 1997-1998 year group. The 1st prize was won by Mansura Bagiyeva (59.4 points), Yekaterina Prokopenko took 2nd prize with 59.1 points (the both from the republican Complex Sports School), and the 3rd place was taken by Sima Radjabova from the Gymnastics School (57.6 points).

Nourlana Alizadeh, Director of the Contests, pointed out that the tournament had shown the results of the current year, as well as drawing up plans for the next year.
