Council of Europe Secretary General satisfied that Azerbaijani ANS Television is back on air, Trend reports quoting the statement of the Council of Europe. I welcome the decision of the National Television and Radio Council to restore the broadcasting license of ANS TV. The only way to ensure a genuinely open and democratic media landscape in Azerbaijan is through legislation complying with Council of Europe standards, which must be respected by media organizations and applied by the authorities in an objective and non-arbitrary way. The Council of Europe is ready to assist the authorities to look at the existing legal and administrative arrangements regulating broadcasting licenses in order to prevent future situations of this kind, said Terry Davis.
