Protected natural territory in Azerbaijan has increased from 4.5% to 9%. Shahdag National Park, the biggest park in Major Caucasus, has been created according to the order of the President of Azerbaijan, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Ecology & Natural Resources.
The Ministry has also prepared documents regarding the allocation of land to create Korchay State Natural Reserve in the administrative territory of Goranboy district of Azerbaijan.
In addition, documents have been prepared and presented to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding the recognition as State Natural Reserves of the territories affected by mud volcano (in Baku, Apsheron and Shamakha),
Work is being carried out on the creation of Samur-Yalama National Park.
