Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva / Thirty five Azerbaijanis imprisoned in Russia have been conveyed to Azerbaijan.

Zavar Gafarov, the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Justice, said that some condemned Azerbaijanis were still kept in a frontier control point in Dagestan of Russian Federation.

They will be conveyed to Azerbaijan to serve the sentence in the near future.

Mr. Gafarov noted that Russia took the first place in the World on the number of Azerbaijanis kept in prison.

A plenty of the Azerbaijani citizens imprisoned in Russia apply to the Department to then serve their sentence in their homeland Azerbaijan.

"We hold a special activity for this purpose. Meetings and negotiations between the two countries are regularly held to speed up this work. In Russia, such kinds of decisions are made by courts. The process takes a lot of time and causes discontent with Azerbaijani citizens. The issue was considered during the last meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Justice of Russia, where the decision to hasten the work was made," concluded Mr. Gafarov.
