Azerbaijani Press Council Received Over Three Hundred Appeals

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamghizi / Rahim Huseynzadeh, the executive secretary of the Azerbaijani Press Council, reported that the Council received over 300 appeals within the first quarter of 2007.

Tree-four written and 4-5 oral appeals are generally received a day. The complaints dealing with the behaviour of the journalists and the activities of some press representatives, the so-called rackets, comprise the major part of the appeals. The rest part deals with matters out of activities and authorities of the organization. Some journalists complain on the level of their living conditions, while the others request for awards.

The Council also receives appeals dealing with the trials of publications. The members of the organization attend and hold monitoring exercises at mass protest actions in order to provide security and control.
