Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Javadova / The criminal trial involving Azerbaijan's former Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafik Aliyev, former President of the Azpetrol Group of Companies, and seventeen other people, continued on 14 June at the Court of Grave Crimes presided over by Judge Tofik Pashayev.

During the trial, the defendants testified on misappropriation of privatized options intended for distribution in 2004 to the veterans of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In the beginning of the trial, F. Aliyev's attorney, Elton Guliyev, applied for the list of invalids and veterans, who were issued privatized options by KapitalBank in August-January 2004, submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers. The Judge noted that only eighty-seven out of 1,300 victims were polled. For this reason the court rejected the appeal. The decision of the court, according to the attorney, will be publicized after the completion of the poll.

The victims from the Azerbaijani region of Samukh and Ganja city testified before the break. The trial continues.
