Entrance Exams for Third Group of Specialties to be Held in Azerbaijan on 17 July

Zarbaliyeva / The entrance exams for Azerbaijani institutes of higher education for the third group of specialties for the 2007-08 academic year will be held in Azerbaijan on 17 July. According to the State Commission on Student Admission (SCSA), the exams will be held in Baku, Nakhchivan and Sumgayit.

Some 41,253 people applied to sit the exams (10,698 young men and 30,555 young women). 32,065 applicants will sit the exams in Baku, 2,080 in Nakhchivan and 7,108 in Sumgayit.

The third group of specialty unites 47 specialties of 19 state and 13 private institutes of Azerbaijan.

In Baku the exams will be held in 57 buildings, eleven in Sumgayit and four in Nakhchivan. Some 2,610 instructors from Baku and Sumgayit secondary schools and 252 directors will supervise the exams.

There are 6,217 places for the Azerbaijani section and 1,032 for the Russian section, a total of 38,156 and 3,097 students respectively applied for places.

24,813 applicants for the third group left secondary schools this year. Some 118 applicants are foreign citizens and 167 already have a higher education.
