Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / The Human Rights Watch organization is alarmed at the state of freedom of speech in Azerbaijan, the Executive Director the organization, Kenneth Roth, stated in Baku on 16 July.
After meeting with the representatives of the Azerbaijan's civic society, Roth noted that he had come to Baku in order to become familiar with the human rights situation personally. Roth said that Human Rights Watch has closely cooperated with Azerbaijan and the organization is interested in the reasons which are holding back the development of media in Azerbaijan, he stated.
A statement will be made as a result of the visit.
