Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Javadova / The trial of the former Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, Farhad Aliyev, his brother Rafig Aliyev, former president of Azpetrol group of companies, and other 17 defendants continued on 26 July at the Court on Serious Crimes presided by Judge Tofik Pashayev.

Rovshan Mirzayev, an expert on small-scale land privatization of the Department on Management and Privatization of State Property at the Economic Development Ministry, testified at the trial. He noted that being an expert he had calculated the price for the sale of two storeys of a nine-storey house (343.8 sq m) located at 16, A. Abbasov Street in order to privatize them under the name of F. Aliyev's relative, Karimov Afig Bahrish oghlu. The expertise was also signed by Faig Mammadov, the former Principal Adviser in the Department. The order to design the documents for privatization was made by Maarif Gurbanov, who then was in the position of Sector Head.

The witness noted that Gurbanov had been in close relations with F. Aliyev and for this reason the ex-minister charged him with privatization of the facilities under his relative's name.
