The insurance deal signed between the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran (EGFI) and the Export Credit Insurance Corporation (KUKE)‎, Poland's official export credit agency, seeks facilitating joint exports to third markets, a source in KUKE told Trend.

“The Memorandum of Cooperation with the Iranian Agency was signed on 2 October 2017 at the Berne Union meeting in Belgrade. The agreement between the KUKE and the EGFI replaces the previous bids agreed in 2000,” said the source. “The agreement provides for exchange of information and experience and possibility of joint export projects on third markets.”

The source went on to add that the memorandum belongs to the standard co-operation agreements (MoUs) that the Corporation has with other export credit insurance agencies.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Kamal Seyyed Ali, head of the EGFI and Piotr Stolarczyk, vice-President of the KUKE.

The Berne Union, also known as the International Union of Credit and Investment Insurers, is an international non-profit association and community for the global export credit and investment insurance industry.

Iran became a member of the Berne Union in May 2016.

The EGFI has signed similar documents with Germany’s Hermes, which offers export credit guarantee (ECG), and Swiss Export Risk Insurance (SERV) as well as the Hungarian Export Credit Insurance Plc (MEHIB), the Portuguese export credit agency (COSEC), Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation (Slecic), Finland’s official export credit agency (Finnvera), Brazilian Guarantees and Fund Managements Agency (ABGF) and Export-Import Bank of the Slovak Republic (Eximbanka SR) in recent months.
