Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan talks building communication facilities in 2020

Construction of a telecommunication system of a new generation has been completed in the Julfa district of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (AR), Trend reports referring to the republic’s State Statistical Committee.

In 2020, the creation of a telecommunication system and the construction of a communication house in the Kangarli district were also completed.

Besides, the construction of a building for a radio and television station has been completed in the Ordubad district. Construction work is also underway on a similar building for a radio and television station in the Sadarak district.

In the reporting year, three new post offices were opened, three more were provided with a new building, and three automatic telephone exchange stations were installed. Naxtel LLC of Nakhchivan AR was provided with a new building.

Meanwhile, volume of revenues from communications and information services of the AR exceeded 55.4 million manat ($32.6 million), which is 5.2 percent more than the year before.

Mobile communications accounted for 78.1 percent of the total volume of services, the cost of which grew by 1.4 percent compared to 2019.

"During 2020, 89.7 kilometers of new 35, 10 and 0.4 kV transmission lines were laid in Nakhchivan, 31 transformer substations of various voltages were installed," the committee said.

As of January 1, 2021, 88,434 subscribers in the republic were provided with natural gas.
