Two shunting diesel locomotives of the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC have been repaired, the company told Trend.

The repair work was carried out under the agreement concluded between the Azerbaijan Railways CJSC and one of the Latvian companies involved in the maintenance of railway trains, the company said.

All the necessary conditions have been created in the diesel locomotives arriving in Azerbaijan to facilitate the work of locomotive crews, said the message of the company.

“The locomotive control cab has a new type of seats for the driver and his assistant, an air conditioner, a microwave oven, a refrigerator, modern heaters, as well as near and long-range monitors. For constant monitoring of fuel consumption, a GPS system was installed,” added the message.

In addition, the locomotives are equipped with an automatic lubrication system for wheelset flanges.

"This system will ensure minimizing wheel wear, as well as reducing the corresponding costs," the company noted.

The Azerbaijan Railways also said that the overhaul of diesel locomotives has increased their service life to ten years.

“At present, 17 more shunting and mainline locomotives are being repaired in Latvia, which will be gradually delivered to Azerbaijan during 2021,” said the message.
