South Korea is interested in launching joint production in the Alat free economic zone (FEZ) in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ramzi Teymurov told Trend on August 2.
According to Teymurov, the Azerbaijani leadership instructed the country's embassies abroad to attract as many potential investors and companies as possible to the Alat FEZ.
"Today, all over the world, including in the neighboring countries of Azerbaijan, serious work is underway to attract foreign direct investment, as well as companies,” he said. “Hopefully on the basis of the agreements of our governments, we will be able to launch the assembly of Korean cars in Azerbaijan, establish production in the spheres of agriculture, high technologies, as well as the development of components.”
Besides, according to the ambassador, Azerbaijan and South Korea have great potential for the development of the tourism sector.
"In this direction, we carried out serious work earlier, which allowed us to increase the flow of tourists from South Korea to Azerbaijan by almost 30 percent. Now that the conditions of the quarantine regime are softened, we have new opportunities for restoration and implementation of new projects in this field," added Teymurov.
