The retail trade turnover in Azerbaijan has increased from January through August 2021, Trend reports on Sept.13 referring to the State Statistical Committee.
According to the committee, this indicator amounted to 26.46 billion manat ($15.57 billion), up by 7.7 percent compared to the first eight months of 2020 (24.56 billion manat or $14.46 billion).
Of the mentioned amount, over 12.9 billion manat ($7.6 billion) accounted for food, 1.37 billion manat ($810 million) - for drinks and tobacco products and more than 3.6 billion manat ($2.1 billion) - for textiles, clothing and footwear.
Besides, the retail trade turnover of electrical goods and furniture made up 1.4 billion manat ($820 million), computer equipment and electronics - 232.4 million manat ($136.8 million), pharmaceutical products and medicines - 580.5 million manat ($341.6 million), motor gasoline and diesel fuel - 1.6 billion manat ($940 million), and other non-food products - 4.6 billion manat ($2.7 billion).
In the first eight months of this year, 49 percent of the retail trade turnover fell on food, 5.2 percent - on drinks and tobacco products, 13.9 percent - on textiles, clothing and footwear, 6.1 percent - for gasoline and diesel fuel, 5.3 percent - for furniture and electrical products.
At the same time, pharmaceutical and medical products accounted for 2.2 percent of the trade turnover, computers and other electronic equipment - 0.9 percent, and 17.4 percent – for other non-food products.
From January through August 2020, 54.1 percent of retail trade fell on food, beverages and tobacco products, 14.6 percent - textiles, clothing and footwear, 5.5 percent - electrical goods and furniture, 5.4 percent - gasoline and diesel fuel, 1.8 percent - pharmaceuticals and medicines, 0.8 percent - computers and other electronic equipment, while 17.8 percent - other non-food products.
