Azerbaijan plans to invest an additional 400 million manat ($235.3 million) in the local industrial zones and create about 2,000 jobs within the framework of existing projects, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Economy.
According to the ministry, as to date, resident status in the industrial zones has been granted to 89 business entities, of which 55 have already started work.
Meanwhile, businessmen have invested 6.2 billion manat ($3.6 billion) in the industrial zones, as a result of which about 9,500 jobs were created, the ministry said.
At the same time, products worth five billion manat ($2.9 billion) have been manufactured in the mentioned zones. Of this amount, products worth 1.4 billion manat or $820 million (about 28 percent) were exported.
Over the first nine months of 2021, the value of products manufactured in the industrial zones made up 1.5 billion manat (growth of 56.7 percent year on year), and exports of the industrial products rose by 102.6 percent compared to the same period of 2020 (269 million manat or $158.2 million) and equaled 545 million manat ($320.6 million).
During this period, the share of industrial zones in total non-oil production value (1.5 billion manat or $880 million) amounted to 14.2 percent.
Overall, Azerbaijan exports industrial products to more than 30 countries.
