Today Russia’s Astrakhan region is intensively developing the transportation of goods along the North-South international transport corridor, Governor of Astrakhan Region Igor Babushkin told reporters in Baku, Trend reports.
“Azerbaijan is our closest neighbor,” Babushkin said. “We hope for the continuation of establishing close economic and humanitarian ties thanks to the constant talks with the Azerbaijani side.”
The governor stressed that he urged Azerbaijani partners to cooperate in the economic sphere.
“I would like to stress that we have opened a special economic zone in the port of Alat settlement, where we are providing a container terminal with equipment,” the governor said. “Those logistics and transit routes stretching towards Azerbaijan today can be fully used through our port and the special economic zone. These issues are discussed by the Azerbaijani president and the prime minister. I am grateful to them for their support.”
