Population’s expenses on pharmaceutical products increase in Azerbaijan for 2021

The total spending of the population on the pharmaceutical and medical products increased by 24.8 percent (236.1 million manat $138.9 million) and amounted to 952 million manat ($560 million) in Azerbaijan in 2021, Trend reports on Jan. 17 citing the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

Moreover, 54.3 percent of the funds spent by the population in retail facilities accounted for the purchase of food, beverages and tobacco during the reporting period. The expenditure on these categories of goods increased by two percent.

Expenditure on electrical goods and furniture increased by 1.5 percent while on telecommunication equipment and computers - by 23.2 percent. Expenditure on pharmaceutical and medical goods increased by 24.8 percent while on other non-food items - by three percent.

According to the State Statistics Committee, the average expenses of one consumer in retail facilities in 2021 for the purchase of goods and services reached 367.8 manat ($216.3) per month.

Some 199.9 manat ($117.6) accounted for monthly expenses for food, drinks and tobacco while 167.9 manat ($98.8) - for non-food products.

The retail turnover of trade organizations in real terms increased by 19.6 percent, retail turnover of individual entrepreneurs - by 1.5 percent, retail turnover in markets and fairs - by 2.1 percent in 2021 compared to 2020.
