Russian LUKOIL interested in raising presence in Kazakhstan

Russian LUKOIL PJSC is interested in further increase of its presence in Kazakhstan, Vagit Alekperov, president of the company, said at a meeting with the country’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Trend reports via the company.

According to Alekperov, the company, in particular, is interested in participating in new exploration projects and in developing partnerships with NC KazMunayGas JSC.

The parties discussed current projects with the participation of the company in Kazakhstan, as well as a number of promising projects for cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the fuel and energy sector.

Currently, LUKOIL PJSC participates in four projects for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Kazakhstan - "Karachaganak" (with a share of 13.5 percent), "Tengiz" (five percent), "Zhenis" (50 percent) and “Al-Farabi” (49.9 percent).

Besides, the company participates in the oil transportation project of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, as well as in joint ventures for the development of the Khvalynsky and Central fields.

Since 2019, LUKOIL PJSC has launched a lubricants plant in Kazakhstan with a capacity of 100,000 tons per year.
