BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. The implementation of new projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories will become an added advantage for the growth and increase in the logistics significance of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus, Deputy Head of the Market Analysis Department of the Russian Gazprombank Gulnara Khaidarshina told Trend.
According to her, foreign investors and investments are actively attracted to projects in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh (including Turkey, UAE, Italy, UK, and Russia).
"In addition to the reconstruction or modernization of energy (including the construction of alternative energy facilities), communal, transport infrastructure, also socially significant facilities, new industrial economic zones will also be created focused on the production and export of non-oil and gas products," Khaidarshina said.
"One of the key projects in Karabakh is the creation of a new railway corridor, thanks to which Azerbaijan will receive a shorter land route to Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan, Turkey, and Iran. Creation of a new railway corridor involves the modernization of existing, but not previously used due to the isolation of Karabakh, railway lines and the construction of new ones," she noted.
"This approach will reduce the time for the construction, and after the launch of the transport corridor - to minimize logistics costs. Therefore, favorable conditions will be created for the development of mutual trade in the South Caucasus," Khaidarshina added.
