BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. Turkish ports handled 5.4 million tons of cargo from Spain from January through April 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.
Ships under the Turkish flag delivered 674,123 tons of freight from Spain to domestic ports, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 4.6 million tons.
During this period, Spanish-flagged vessels transported 111,603 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. From January through April 2022, Turkish ports handled 965,405 tons of transit cargo from Spain.
Turkiye's ports transshipped 32.06 million tons of cargo in April 2022.
During the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkiye through local ports amounted to 2.09 million tons, while freight traffic by ships under the flags of other countries reached 29.9 million tons.
In addition, Turkish ports handled 7.19 million tons of transit cargo in April 2022. In the first four months of 2022, Turkish ports handled a total of 130,8 million tons of cargo.
During this period, cargo movement by Turkish ships amounted to 6.05 million tons, and by ships of other countries amounted to 121.8 million tons.
From January through April 2022, Turkish ports transshipped 28 million tons of transit cargo.
In total, Turkiye transported 386.39 million tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.
During the reporting period, freight transportation by ships under the flag of Turkiye via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by other countries' vessels reached 356.39 million tons.
Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo in 2021.
