BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. Lithuania is expecting a business delegation from Azerbaijan in the second half of 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania told Trend.

“President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda in the recent visit to Baku was accompanied by a numerous business and academic delegations showing our interest in boosting bilateral trade and scientific training between our countries,” the ministry said.

According to the MFA, Azerbaijan is one of Lithuania’s main trading partners in the South Caucasus.

“Azerbaijan is an important partner for Lithuania, and we are interested in further bilateral ties development. We expect Azerbaijani business mission to come to Lithuania in the second half of this year as a follow-up after the president’s visit,” the source added.

As the ministry said, Lithuania sees potential for cooperation with Azerbaijan through European and other international development instruments, and is keen to actively share its best practices and reform experience.

“One of the best examples is the EU Twinning program, in which Azerbaijan is one of Lithuania's strongest partners. So far, 16 projects have been awarded. At present, Lithuanian institutions together with the EU partners are implementing 6 Twinning projects in Azerbaijan,” the ministry said.
