Azerbaijan discloses minimum pension level for 2022-2026

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 23. The minimum pension in Azerbaijan will be maintained at the level of 75-80 percent of the minimum wage as is stated in the "Socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026", Trend reports.

"All citizens will be provided with adequate and comprehensive social protection system, in particular, retirees – with a savings fund, low-income populations – with basic needs, and persons with disabilities – with an enhanced access to social assistance. The stability of the pension system, as well as the application of social security system will be further ensure equality for all," the document stated.

According to the country's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the growth dynamics of pensions, benefits, scholarships, targeted state social assistance continued from January through May 2022. During the reporting period, payments of the State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) under the Ministry amounted to 2.717 billion manat ($1.59 billion), which was 7.8 percent or 198 million manat ($116.48 million) more than the same period of 2021.
