Türkiye sees cargo turnover growth at Izmir Int'l Airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. Cargo turnover of Adnan Menderes International Airport in Turkish Izmir city grew in July 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye told TurkicWorld, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, this figure amounted to 75,243 tons, up by 43 percent on annual basis.

The airport's cargo turnover on local flights amounted to 42,701 tons in July this year (an increase of 11 percent compared to July 2021), and on international flights – 32,542 tons (an increase of 1.29 times), the ministry said.

Meanwhile, passenger traffic at the airport rose by 54 percent in annual terms, exceeding 5.38 million people. The traffic on local flights amounted to 3.49 million people (an increase of 21 percent), and on international flights – 1.88 million people (an increase of two times).

Besides, according to the ministry, the number of flights performed in July 2022 was 38,875, which is 38 percent more than in the same month in 2021. Some 24,681 flights fell on local routes (an increase of 11 percent), and 14,194 - on international routes (an increase of 1.39 times).

Passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in the reporting month amounted to 96.4 million people, and cargo turnover was 2.19 million tons.

Last year, passenger traffic at all airports in the country exceeded 128.3 million people, and cargo turnover – was 3.3 million tons, the ministry reminded.
